Structure Fire - 12th Ave. SW
1-2-2010

At 2052 HRS Station 2 and Station 64 responded to a possible residential structure fire. The first
unit on  scene found a well involved structure. It took around 20 minutes to gain control of the
incident. Freezing weather hampered suppression factors. The Catawba County Fire Marshal's
Office responded to assist with investigation conducted by the Long View Fire Department
Investigation Division. Catawba County EMS and Hickory Rescue was placed on medical and rehab.
Damage was estimated around $55.000

Structure Fire - 25th ST PL SW
1-10-2010

At 0511 HRS Station 2 and Station 64 responded to smoke coming from the eves of a residential
structure. The first unit on the scene found smoke coming from the roof area. After attack crews
advanced attack lines a second alarm was struck. Hickory Engine 3 and Mt. View Tk-127
responded to assist with suppression and overhaul tactics. Catawba County Fire Marshals Office
Unit 3 responded to assist the Long View Investigations Division with the incident. Catawba County
EMS and Hickory Rescue responded reference medical stand by and rehab. Losses was estimated
around $48,000.

Structure Fire - Sweet Bay Lane - Henry Fork Park
1-11-2010

At 1119 HRS Station 2 and Station 12 responded to a reported structure fire. Units on the scene
found a fully involved 2000 square foot multi use building attached to a 10,000 square foot shelter.
Engine 22 deployed a deluge until hand lines could be deployed. It took crews around 30 minutes to
gain control. Icard Fire was called for a tanker for a secondary water supply. Hickory Fire
Department was notified reference Engine 3 for stand by at the station and investigation along with
the Catawba County Fire Marshals Office Unit 3. Catawba County EMS and Hickory Rescue was
placed on medical and rehab stand by. The estimated loss was around $ 70,000.

Haz-Mat - 3700 Block of 2nd Ave. SW
1-12-2010

At 1413 HRS Station 2 responded to a Haz- Mat incident involving an unknown clear liquid. Workers
cleaning out a run down warehouse for renovation found the cylinder on a old piece of machinery
used in woodworking. E-24 on the scene found an unmarked glass cylinder with about 30 oz. of
clear liquid, thought to be carbon tetrachloride. Burke County Fire Marshal's Office was notified and
responded to the scene.  S.T.A.T. was notified and responded to the scene where they removed and
packaged the container for transport back to their facility.

Structure Fire - Main Ave. NW
1-23-2010

Station 2 and Station 64 responded to a possible mobile home fire. Units on the scene found light
smoke showing from the living room area. The attack crew made entry and extinguished a small
fire. The structure was currently unoccupied. Estimated damage was $500 dollars. This fire is
currently under investigation by the Long View Fire Investigation Division and Long View Police.

Commercial Structure Fire - 3719 1st Ave. SW
1-23-2010

Long View and Icard Fire responded to a working commercial structure fire. L-25 on the scene
reported smoke and fire showing and called for a second alarm. Attack crews protected
exposures while an elevated master stream was established by Long View and Hickory Fire. A
master stream was set up to the rear of the structure supplied by multiple tankers. The structure
housed a multitude of chemicals and required a full response by the Catawba County Haz-Mat
Team. It took several hours to gain control of the fire due to the fire load, adverse weather in the
area and possible hazardous runoff from the chemicals in the burning building. There was 20 Fire
Departments, Burke and Catawba EMS, Hickory Rescue, Burke and Catawba Office of Emergency
Services, Catawba and Burke Fire Marshals Office, Catawba County Haz Mat Team, Burke React,
NC Office of Emergency Services, NC SBI, NC EPA, NC DOT, NC Dept. of Environmental and Natural
Resources, NC Regional Haz- Mat, ATF and STAT.

E-651, Mt. View T121, Hickory E-3 & L-1, Hickory Rescue-1, T-6, T-7, Drowning Creek T-782, POVs

Residential Structure Fire
2-13-2010

Long View and Icard Fire responded to a possible residential structure fire Friday night around
10:15 pm. E-24 on the scene reported a working fire and called for a second alarm. It took crews
about 30 minutes to gain control of the incident involving a 1,200 square foot residential dwelling,
partly due to adverse weather that had hit just hours before. Estimated damage to the structure is
around $55,000. The fire is under investigation by the Long View Fire Department Investigation
Division the Catawba County Fire Marshals Office and the Long View Police Department.
